MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) - Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted in the death of George Floyd, was stabbed on Friday in a federal prison by an inmate accused of attacking him.

According to law enforcement sources, Chauvin was stabbed approximately 22 times by the inmate. The motive for the attack is unknown at this time.
Chauvin, who is serving a 22-year sentence for Floyd's death, was rushed to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
