Sinclair's Pair of Goals Secures Victory
Portland Thorns FC made a winning start to their CONCACAF W Champions Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory over Club América on Thursday night.
Sinclair Shines
Canadian superstar Christine Sinclair was the star of the show for the Thorns, scoring both goals in the first half.
Her first goal came in the 18th minute, when she headed home a cross from Becky Sauerbrunn.
Sinclair doubled her tally in the 33rd minute, finishing off a fine team move.
Club América Responds
Club América pulled a goal back in the second half through Daniela Espinosa, but the Thorns held on for a hard-fought victory.
The win puts the Thorns top of Group A, with one game remaining.
Up Next
The Thorns will face Honduras's CD Olimpia in their final group game on Monday, August 21st.
A win or a draw would see them progress to the semi-finals.
